Organized by the IPCA School of Design in partnership with ID+, Institute for Research in Design, Media and Culture, the 5th DIGICOM – International Conference on Design and Digital Communication – took place between the 4th and 6th of November and had three guest speakers and a total of 15 sessions in which more than 70 communications were presented in the areas of Digital Design and Interaction, Audiovisual Communication, and the relationship between Society, Communication and Design.
Among the guest speakers were Francisco Paiva, professor and researcher at the University of Beira Interior, where he directs the doctoral program in Media Arts. Executive director of Covilhã’s candidacy to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, in the area of Design, and also scientific coordinator of the international DESIGNA conference.
Rachel Cooper, professor at the University of Lancaster (UK) and a world reference, being president of the European Academy of Design and the Design Research Society.
Ana Correia Barros, researcher at Fraunhofer Portugal AICOS and leader of the Human Centered Design team, was also one of the main speakers with all her experience and knowledge in the field of industrial design, namely assistance products (chronic diseases and disability), usability and inclusive design.
